Live Art

An art exhibition at the Stadtwerke Bielefeld where my friend
and i drew three giant paintings live

The canvases are 1.5m x 3m each.

Three paintings in two days

My friend Paul and I have kept a very healthy relationship with the artschool we both attended before we went to college. When they came to us asking if we wanted to do a live painting session we gladly agreed. At this annual event students of the artschool have the opportunity to create artworks that fit into the giant halls of the municipal utilities building and so big canvases are a great idea. Three big paintings in two evenings leaves not much free time, so we devised a plan to help us gain some time. By using multicolored oil based markers we made sure we could paint without ever stopping to dip a brush in some fresh paint or any other interruption. In the end we had three amazing pieces and a ton of fun.

Splitting the monochrome markers to make them paint four colors at once was a MESS.
If you look closely you can see we also used smaller markers for the tiny details.
